INDUSTRY 4.0

Smart Factories and Automation

Representing the fourth industrial revolution, Industry 4.0 is a collective term embracing several automation, data exchange and manufacturing technologies. These technologies coalesce under Cyber-Physical Systems, the Internet of Things and the Internet of Services.

6 Design Principles

1. Interoperability

The ability of cyber-physical systems (i.e. workpiece carriers, assembly stations and products), humans and Smart Factories to connect and communicate with each other via the Internet of Things and the Internet of Services.

2. Virtualization

A virtual copy of the Smart Factory which is created by linking sensor data (from monitoring physical processes) with virtual plant models and simulation models.

3. Decentralization

The ability of cyber-physical systems within Smart factories to make decisions on their own.

4. Real-Time Capability

The capability to collect and analyze data and provide the derived insights immediately.

5. Service Orientation

Offering of services (of cyber-physical systems, humans or Smart Factories) via the Internet of Services.

6. Modularity

Flexible adaptation of Smart Factories to changing requirements by replacing or expanding individual modules.

IIoT (Industrial Internet Of Things)

Over the past three decades JAYCOR has witnessed globalization and the enormous step-change in the evolution of technology and the impact it has had on businesses and consumers. And within that change, connecting technology has provided the essential pillars to support an interconnected world, through the Internet of Things (IoT) and the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).Today’s cabling and connector technologies are pivotal to the advancements of big data, renewable energy, automation and the many other mission critical technologies that shape our present and future.

4 Elements that Jolt Network Bandwidth

Ponder about the streets you commute every day. What would occur if the traffic engineers who designed these roadways did not take into account the numbers of cars travelling on them, road width and the number of lanes? They would not be able to accommodate a certain amount of traffic at a certain average speed. Traffic would be a disaster, there would be bottlenecks and hold ups, and it would be hard to get where you needed to be.

The same holds true for your network – it’s only as adequate as the planning that goes into it. Different types of applications require different network bandwidth levels. Each task fulfilled using your network takes up network bandwidth, with many bits per second navigating across the network. Knowing and how much bandwidth each application uses is key to ensuring the functionality, reliability and speed of your network.

Splice-On Connectors – 6 Reasons to Consider

A new connector technology combination utilizing the benefits of both fusion splicing with the simplicity of a field-installable connector to better our options for field-termination: the splice-on connector. Technicians are embracing the splice-on connector for aggressive plant environments, data centers and MDU (multi-dwelling unit) networks.

A splice-on connector uses a fusion splicer to permanently join a fiber stub inside the connector with a fiber cable. The splice is protected inside the boot of the connector, replacing the need for traditional pigtails as the splice is contained within the connector.

As splice-on connectors become more popular, here are a few reasons why you may want to consider them for your network:

1. Fewer Materials and Components Required
2. Better Insertion Loss and Return Loss Performance over Mechanical Splice Connectors
3. Installation Flexibility
4. Generic Requirements (GR) for Outdoor Environments
5. Successful-Splice Notification
6. Significant Price Decreases
